What’s It Like To Be Non-Thrivey?

This is part two for people who like bullet points (I’m one of those people) and subscribe to my blog for deep dives on each point below!

Some key descriptors and indicators of Non-Thrivey Person:

Low self-esteem: Individuals not thriving often harbor deep-seated feelings of inadequacy and self-doubt, undermining their confidence and sense of worth. This also affects their sense of power and control over their experiences in life often causing feels of powerlessness. Low self esteem is directly linked to low social confidence and social anxiety as well. When one rises the others tend to so I love to focus on helping you raise your self esteem!

Lack of self-confidence: Confidence, the cornerstone of personal empowerment, is often lacking in individuals not thriving. They may hesitate to assert themselves or pursue their goals due to a fear of failure (also linked to perfectionistic thinking and lows self esteem).

Low social confidence and high social anxiety: Social interactions can be daunting for those not thriving, leading to heightened levels of anxiety and discomfort in social settings.

Feelings of powerlessness: Instead of feeling in control of their lives, individuals not thriving may perceive themselves as helpless victims of circumstance, leading to a sense of powerlessness. Before their feet hit the floor, these individuals often find themselves waking up in the red zone, feeling stressed, anxious, and overwhelmed with negative thoughts about the day ahead even before it has begun. Not realizing they have created a crap tinted lens for themselves, they may fall into a pattern of assuming the worst and engaging in catastrophic thinking, bracing themselves for yet another challenging day.

Unhealthy lifestyle habits: Not thriving often manifests in unhealthy lifestyle choices, such as overeating, smoking, excessive drinking, relationship turmoil, maladaptive coping strategies, distortions in thinking, and chronic stress.

Mental health struggles: Depression, anxiety, phobias, and fears are common companions for those not thriving. These conditions often exacerbate feelings of distress and hinder personal growth.

Destructive relationships: Not thriving individuals may find themselves trapped in toxic or abusive relationships, further eroding their well-being.

Reduced lifespan: Studies indicate that individuals not thriving may have a 20% shorter lifespan than their thriving counterparts, highlighting the profound impact of mental well-being on overall health. I will also talk more about how Thriving increases your immune system later.

Workplace challenges: In the professional sphere, not thriving can lead to a myriad of issues, including absenteeism, lower performance, burnout, decreased engagement, and job dissatisfaction. People who haven’t embraced the Thrive mindset may often feel trapped in jobs that don’t match their full potential, leaving them feeling unfulfilled and underutilized.

Learned helplessness and diffusion of responsibility: Individuals not thriving may develop a sense of learned helplessness, where they believe they have little control over their circumstances. They believe “life is happening to them” and thus are victims to external events like the weather (ie the photo above). An example of this in real life is seasonal affective disorder. Additionally, they may exhibit a diffusion of responsibility, shirking accountability for their actions and outcomes. This can also affect their career in a negative way.

Dependence upon others: Instead of fostering independence and self-reliance, not thriving individuals may become overly dependent on others for validation, support, or decision-making. This often times leads to collusive relationships which further lead one into unhelpful patterns of thought and behaviors and create worse symptoms especially for those suffering with emetophobia.

The first step to breaking free from the constraints of non-thriving is gaining clarity on your current situation and identifying if these descriptions resonate with you. This awareness sets the stage for embracing a life filled with empowerment, resilience, and fulfillment.

Through the Thrive Programme, individuals can embark on a journey of self-discovery, growth, and transformation, unlocking their full potential and reclaiming control over their lives.
